2023: Pro-Osinbajo women’s groups campaign for vice-president in Abuja, location of APC women’s conference

FCT, Abuja- As the National Women’s Conference of the All Progressive Congress (APC) kicked off on Tuesday, January 18, women from various parts of the federation arrived at the International Conference Center, Abuja, with demands for the refresh of a presidency of Osinbajo in 2023.

With an emphatic presence, the women’s coalition which includes market women, farmers, traders, artisans and professionals chorused for Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo to become the candidate for President of the APC in 2023.

They urged the party’s interim committee to strictly ensure that delegates to its national convention are not hijacked by those who have participated in the looting of state or federal resources in the past.

Head of the Steering Committee of the Women’s Coalition for Osinbajo, Hajia Rabi Dauda who spoke with journalists including a Legit.ng reporter in front of the room, pointed out that the women’s assessment of the current list of presidential candidates in various political parties indicates that Osinbajo is the best option for Nigerian women.

His words :

“We support Osinbajo, not because there are no other aspirants, but because he is the most qualified and the one with the most predictable disposition towards the development issues of concern. above all women.

“Nigerian women trust Osinbajo more than any other presidential candidate and he already has a sense of what the specific challenges of governance really mean in the current era.

“We believe Osinbajo can consolidate all the good foundations that Baba Buhari laid and Nigerian women are much more optimistic about the prospects for a better future under an Osinbajo presidency.

“At this APC National Women’s Conference and beyond here, we urge all Nigerian women to actively mobilize support for Osinbajo for the benefit of generations to come, as the 2023 elections will have a very lasting impact. on the fate of Nigeria”.

Speaking in the same spirit, Mrs. Scholastica Dominic, who led a group of market women to join the women’s coalition for a peaceful rally at the International Conference Centre, said that it was a demonstration of voluntary support.

She said:

“He is healthy, youth and female friendly and he represents positive change.

“Furthermore, Osinbajo has shown great willingness to see things from the perspective of market women and he can make things easier for us; indeed, we believe he has a great ability to take Nigeria forward.

In addition, Evangelist Ochoja, a member of the interfaith group within the women’s coalition, expressed women’s confidence in preparing Osinbajo to vindicate the nation’s collective hopes.

She added that people like her who cannot be swayed by money prefer to support Osinbajo given his demonstrated ability to serve with empathy.

2023: No statement from wannabes will bother us, say Osinbajo supporters

In a related development, the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG) said that no statement from a number of aspirants can extinguish the patriotic passion associated with those championing the cause of an Osinbajo presidency in 2023.

According to PCG Chairman Dr. Aliyu Kurfi, plurality of candidates and political parties is necessary for a strong democracy and a rich array of powerful contenders will only deepen the legitimacy of Osinbajo’s eventual victory.

The pro-Osinbajo group also said the declarations are healthy for democracy and that more would-be candidates are welcome in the race.
