APC’s only female presidential hopeful makes statement at screening venue – The Whistler Nigeria


Former All Progressives Congress national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun is chairing the party’s presidential selection panel which is being held at a hall in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja today.

Odigie-Oyegun, is the party’s first substantial national chairman.

But Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the party’s only female presidential candidate, defends herself at the location of the screening exercise.

While the midshipmen’s supporters besieged the venue, those of Ohanenye stood out in the crowd.

One of his supporters who spoke exclusively to THE WHISTLER while waving and displaying her campaign banner said, “She is the only one without baggage. It will be projected.

“Expect surprises. If screened, she could emerge as the winner of the presidential ticket. We are not joking.

Asked about his chances of winning the ticket with political bigwigs like Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Bola Tinubu and Rotimi Ameachi, he replied: “Expect a miracle. We see his odds as 50/50. Everything can happen.”

Those projected are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, APC National Leader and former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate Speaker Ahmed Lawan and former Ministers Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Godswill Akpabio and Chukwuemeja Nwajiuba.

Others also signed up for the screening are Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa).

Others are former Senate Speaker Ken Nnamani, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole and incumbent Senators Ibikunle Amosun, Ajayi Boroffice and Rochas Okorocha.

President Buhari’s running mate in 2011, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Uju Ken-Ohanenye, Nicholas Felix, Ahmad Rufai Sani, Tein Jack-Rich, Ikeobasi Mokelu are also expected to face the selection board.

The APC is holding its national convention on Saturday 6th at Eagle Square Abuja.
