KUALA LUMPUR (March 25): Berjaya Enviro Holdings Sdn Bhd (BEnviro), a subsidiary of Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp), is joining forces with Qhazanah Sabah Bhd (QSB), the strategic investment arm of the Sabah State Government , to expand and upgrade waste management facilities in Sabah .
On Friday March 25, BEnviro signed a memorandum of understanding with QSB to cooperate in the development and operation of integrated waste management projects using modern and advanced technologies.
In a statement, BCorp Chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan said that BEnviro, as a leading developer and operator of integrated waste management projects, is honored to be part of this initiative to help modernize services. waste management in Sabah, which in turn will significantly improve the economic and social welfare in Sabah.
BEnviro is engaged in the core business of developing and operating waste management facilities which include sanitary landfills, sustainable scheduled waste treatment and recycling centers, while BCorp Group is also involved in waste gas renewable energy discharge.
BEnviro’s plethora of renowned waste management projects include the Bukit Tagar EnviroParks (BTEP) sanitary landfill in Selangor as well as other sanitary landfills in China and the Philippines.
BTEP is Malaysia’s largest sanitary landfill and one of the largest engineered sanitary landfills in the ASEAN region. It is also Malaysia’s first sanitary landfill to be registered under the Clean Development Mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and has achieved the highest level of emission reductions in all landfill sites in the region.
BCorp shares closed unchanged at 24 sen, valuing it at a market cap of RM1.3 billion.
