Europe’s leading executive air travel show EBACE (European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition) is back this year in Geneva, Switzerland from May 23-25, giving Leonardo a first chance to update the market on the next steps. of its offering of VIP/corporate transport helicopter capabilities under the new Agusta VIP brand. EBACE marks the introduction of the new Agusta brand at an airshow and its first range of dedicated services.
With a global fleet of over 900 helicopters performing various passenger transport missions. including private transport, corporate transport, charter, scheduled services and VIP/government transport, over 35% of aircraft are based in Europe, the world’s largest civilian helicopter market. Leonardo has maintained a 45% market share in the global multi-engine VIP helicopter market over the past decade, leveraging the key differentiators that have made its range of dedicated models the benchmark: class-leading speed and overall performance, high levels of customization, exceptional cabin comfort, the latest navigation and mission technologies, the latest certification and safety standards and a distinguished Italian style.
The new Agusta brand updates the distinctive factors that have made the company famous and popular among global operators, adding more solutions and services as technology evolves.
The first example of combining heritage and innovation was showcased with the brand new rotorcraft terminal designated Casa Agusta – jointly with Falcon Aviation – in Dubai at the end of 2021. At the same occasion, the innovative AW609 tiltrotor was also exhibited , a solution that transforms the world of rotary-wing transport, facilitating connections to urban centers and bringing private airport transport services to cities through a fully operational terminal.
At EBACE, Leonardo provides an update on the latest plans for new options and services dedicated to VIP/corporate helicopter operators under the Agusta brand initiative. These include interior moods, a new integrated maintenance service plan and a dedicated Agusta section in the Leonardo Helicopter customer portal. The interior ambiences, originally designed for the AW169, AW139 and AW189 helicopter types, consist of three all-new different options – inspired by iconic city names – for interior layouts based on colors, materials, specific and elegant seats and on-board options. These are intended to allow customers to select and create their ideal and perfect habitat that can best reflect their tastes, while meeting their needs: from the feeling of warmth, harmony and purity of “Florence” , to the coexistence of opposites in “London”. ‘ like tradition and innovation, and the energy and passion of ‘New York’ and its cosmopolitan mix of habits and behaviors.
The new AGUSTAforYOU helicopter service plan, specially developed for corporate rotorcraft operators, aims to improve aircraft availability, reduce inventory costs and optimize expenses and covers planned and unplanned maintenance of airframe/avionics components and other items. Initially supported types include AW109 GrandNew, AW169 and AW139 with plans to expand to other platforms in the future. In addition, on the Leonardo Helicopter Customer Portal, VIP operators will have a dedicated space to check the progress and status of their helicopter’s manufacturing and testing, including images. Taken together, these steps aim to provide more distinct answers to meet exclusivity requirements and make ownership and operations from day one a true 360° experience when choosing Agusta.

Leonardo VIP helicopters also feature a range of technologies supporting safety, comfort, navigation and mission efficiency, assistance and training. As a clear example, Leonardo is displaying an AW169 light intermediate helicopter on static display at EBACE. The only latest-generation helicopter in its class for over 30 years, the AW169 features a range of innovations not typically available on light multi-engine models, with substantial benefits also for passenger-carrying duties.
Cockpit and cabin comfort for crew and passengers on board is supported by an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) mode capability, allowing key systems like air conditioning, heating and radio to operate by pulling part of the power generated by one of the two motors. This contributes to an ideal environment and the use of on-board equipment, regardless of weather and geographical conditions, without the need to keep the rotors running, resulting in greater safety, less noise and reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The AW169 is available with three landing gear options: retractable or fixed landing gear and skids. The retractable landing gear option is fully electric, reducing weight and making maintenance easier while reducing cost. Modern digital glass cockpit features touchscreen technology and versatile representation of all key information, providing enhanced situational awareness to the pilot and reducing workload to focus on the mission and increase security.
