Proto has a backlit cabin and a large transparent LCD screen, giving the impression that someone is in the box. The live-streaming technology is the brainchild of Proto CEO David Nussbaum, who at the start of the pandemic realized “if you can’t be there, shine there”. Today, there are over two hundred Protos worldwide, mostly used in retail establishments and shopping malls. All it takes to communicate with someone in the box is an internet connection of 15mg to 20mg per second. The speakers can be filmed wirelessly via a smartphone and the Proto app, then streamed wirelessly to the Proto box.
